If you love simple homemade snacks that require very few ingredients, these 3-ingredient cookies are perfect. They are buttery, lightly sweet, easy to customize, and come together with basic pantry ingredients. Whether you’re making a quick snack for kids or preparing homemade treats for tea time, this recipe is beginner-friendly and delicious.
The best part? You can make them with wheat flour, maida, or even ragi flour based on your preference.
Ingredients
- Butter – 200 g (softened)
- Brown sugar or powdered white sugar – ½ cup (50 g)
(This creates mildly sweet cookies. If you prefer sweeter cookies, increase to ¾ cup.) - Wheat flour – 2 cups (200 g)
(You can substitute with ragi flour or maida/all-purpose flour.) - Crushed nuts – ¼ cup (optional)
(Use almonds, cashews, mixed nuts, chocolate chips, or skip completely.)
Preparation Method
Step 1: Cream the Butter
In a mixing bowl, add softened butter and beat using a hand blender or whisk for about 5 minutes until smooth and fluffy.
Step 2: Add Sugar
Add brown sugar or powdered sugar and mix well until combined.
Step 3: Add Flour
Add the flour little by little and gently mix using a spatula or your hands until it forms a dough.
Step 4: Add Nuts or Chocolate Chips
Mix in crushed nuts or chocolate chips if using.
Important: Do not knead the dough. Mix gently just until combined.
Step 5: Shape the Cookies
Make small balls from the dough and lightly flatten them with your fingers.
Place them on a greased stainless steel plate or baking tray.
Step 6: Refrigerate
Refrigerate the shaped cookies for 1 hour. This helps the cookies hold their shape while baking.
Step 7: Bake
Preheat your oven to 180°C.
Bake the cookies at 180°C for 17–19 minutes or until the edges turn light golden.
Step 8: Cool Completely
Allow the cookies to cool completely before storing. They continue to firm up as they cool.
Yield
Makes approximately 12–16 cookies
Storage Tips
Store in an airtight container at room temperature. These cookies stay fresh for 2–3 weeks.
